Question is it ok to change a babys name after adoption?

the reason I ask is this name is very strange when people ask me his name they look at me like what where you thinking LOL.
our first foster child's name was Breonna and every one called her Breanna even her Mom when she was with her, now when we where headed to adoption with her at the age of 5 she was asked did she want to change her name to Breanna from Breonna she said I want to pick my own name out at first I was worried because her dolls name was Lou Lou but then one day she said I want my name to be Hope it was a name of a women on day of our lives she said she's pretty and I like her, so I said OK and from that day on she would not let us call her by her birth name again the therapist said it was OK so we agreed to go alone with it,
she is now 13 and I asked her yesterday if she was glad she changed it and she said ya none of my friend got to pick there names out I think its cool, plus I hate the name Breonna she also had 3 middle names that where very long what was her Mom thinking ??????she did not want to keep any of them but we did make her keep Breanna for a middle name this new child is one years old and the name is also Tattooed across her back in big cryptic letters is it OK to change his name when we adopt him or should we not put so much into a name? the name is DRAKE but im afraid they will call him DUCKY for a joke what do you think???
change it or keep it .

It is up to you, I would probably look into getting the tatoo removed also.

I kind of like the name Drake. It sounds kind of distinguished. I didn't think of duck at all. But, if you don't like the name and want to change it, then you are perfectly within your rights to do so (even if the birthmom does have it tattooed across her back).

I'm not an expert in names or anything but if I'm not wrong my Aparents changed my name. They were also my foster parents before they adopted me.
Anyways, if I'm not mistaken Drake is another name for Draco which means or was derived from the word dragon.
As far as renaming I don't believe it to be right or wrong, whatever you feel is best to do would be the right choice.

Tatoo on a child?

The tatoo is what got me. What kind of insane person would tatoo a baby? They're not cattle!

A good plastic surgeon should be able to help you once the child is adopted, and very likely, the child's insurance should pay for it. It's psychologically damaging for a child that age to be tattoed---at least where I live it is.

Has anyone changed the name of their older adopted child? The children I'm thinking of are 3 years and 6 years Are there any issues involved for the kid? I think of Patty Duke "Call me Anna". Hubby and I have names picked out.
