Questions
If a foster child age about 5 and 6 are adopted, could it be possible that the name of the chilren are changed? Would it effect the birthcertificate? Would they be able to find out their original names? What happens? I am sorry but I am looking for my sister and brother. We were foster children in the 70's and I can't locate them by their names. Any information would be helpful... Thanks...

The last name is almost always changed to that of the adoptive family. Many choose to keep the child's first name when they are that old, but some do change it. Sometimes the children themselves want to change their name.
The adoptive family usually gets a new birth certificate with the new name, as mckenna said. The old b.c. is generally sealed with court records. I hope you can find your siblings. The search and reunion boards might be helpful. Good luck.
