I contacted various supervisors and finally got someone to call me back. However, they stated that they never do homestudies in IL until a family is matched with a child. They were also suggesting that I was giving the impression that they had somehow made a mistake. I will clarify, that I had requested our homestudy be sent before this (to AdoptUSkids, Kansas and Maine) Our worker never once mentioned that we didn't have a homestudy. I don't know what she sent then. The adoption worker for the state also asked if we had a copy of our homestudy( shortly after we were licensed) I requested our homestudy and got our 6 mon. review. I thought that was it. We still have not been contacted by the state adoption homestudy worker and our worker said we could not get the name or #, but just to wait. Waiting is so hard !!! My advice if you choose to go with DCFS is to make copies of everything you fill out. Ask and ask again for anything you don't completely understand. Document phone discussions, name, date, notes. Be sure you know if you are adopt only ( we were when we were first licensed) or foster care. Ask if the office has handled out of state waiting child adoptions before, If that is what you are interested in. Good luck to all of you!

final update. We got a letter today and we were not selected as the matched family. This is hard, but I prayed that she would be matched with the best family for her and I trust that she has. I was just hoping maybe it was us. We had our homestudy meeting and it should be completed in a week or two. Unfortunately, it wasn't finished in time for this particular child. I have no idea if it affected the decision to choose another family instead of ours. After everything, I feel a sense of obligation to our agency and I don't want to offend anyone. After all, it is up to them if we get placed with a child or not. We just want to provide a good home to a child out there.
