Finding doctors and daycare

Can anyone tell me how you can find doctors that take medicaid and daycares that take 4c. I am having so much trouble. I can't find anything online. I am finally getting my liscense after 1 year of waiting. I am so excited to finally be at this point. I am located in central florida.

The way we found a doctor that took medicaid was we called the FSS (family support services) office and asked them. They then referred us to the local pediatrician that takes it. Most likely look up the Department of Health in your area and they can help with a doctor. We use them for dental stuff too.

As far as daycares I don't know about that one. Maybe call the agency also and ask them? Your SW should be able to help too.

We are south of you... and there is something called "Family Central" here, they had to meet with us (once) to cover the daycare subsidy.
There is a list for my county... and I just got on the phone and called and called and called... and visited the places. We ended up finding an amazing place right near our house. I had to do some convincing to take the "voucher" but in the end they did. They now have another foster family using them .... I will recommend them to anyone.
Regarding doctor's check and see if there is a "county" wide doctor's group, there is one here called Pediatrics Associates and we are lucky, they take medicaid AND they have evening and wknd hours. They are SUPER... rarely have a long wait. We are so blessed to have them here.

Good luck... I'll look for my county list to see if there is a statewide linkup

I'm with Suzyq18 which sounds like I know which county she is coming from... I also use Pediatric Associates but in another county. They are great and have offices all over, the most northern office in the Treasure Coast, so I don't think it'll work for her.

You may check with your county Health Department and they will point you in the direction of Dr's.

As far as daycare is concerned, you can contact your local agency that pays for the daycare and they will provide you with local daycares that accept the voucher. You just go down the list and start calling and checking some of these places out. It'll be hard to have a daycare in place without knowing what ages you are getting. I was able to have a GREAT relationship with my daycare provider and is one of the few schools that actually take the vouchers. You can also check dcf child care providers, google it and you can do your own search and start calling schools in advance to see if they take the vouchers.

Good luck!!

Try picking your cw's or your local Foster Parent's Board's brain for ALPIE or other voucher systems. They will give you a list of the daycare's that will take them - then you have to call, call, call, until you find one with an opening..... and good luck....

Medically wise, I have always had to use the County Health Dept. Most pedes and dentists don't take the medicaid. It is very frustrating to be trying your best to do for the kids and have your hands tied behind your back!! It is not a good deal in the area where I live!

Good luck and thank you!

I thought it was all of florida, but at least in Duval County medicare or medicare or whatever it is our kids get, has been privatized and is handled by a variety of health care insurance agencies. My Fd is covered under Healthease and I can pick any doctor off that plan. So, she goes to a private pediatrician and not the clinic that is set up for foster kids. So much better. I think any public health care agency can go online for medicare and see what insurance plan you child is under; thats how I found out.

Good luck, Chickie
