Step Child Adoption
Does anyone know where to begin? My daughter is 9, her bfather has never been a part of her life. He's never seen her and her birth certificate was left blank where it says father. The last conversation I ever had with him was when I was 4 months pregnant and he told me to have an abortion. I refused, and then he then claimed "it" wasn't his. I told him if he didn't think it was his, then it wasn't, and have done it on my own since. I am now getting married to a wonderful man who wants to officially adopt her. He's been in our lives for 6 years. Is there a government agency that I speak to? Do I need a lawer?? Where do I even start??? Help!!!
