I am an adoptee with a 1965 Florida amended birth certificate.
Has any REUNITED adoptees in Florida compared their amended birth certificate to their original birth certificate and found them to be the same in these areas ? or found them to be completely different ? birthdate birth city birth county birth hospital birth certificate number My second question.... Has anyone born in the state of Forida recieved their unidentifying information and found it to be false after you found your birth family ?

Dawn,
I am helping my finace in his search for his Bfamily in Florida. Before we got his BC from his Amother ,we sent for one. They were totally differnet. Different numbers and all. As far as the Non-Id goes, we are still waiting. How long did it take for you to get yours? Theresa

Theresa,
It took me about 2 to 3 months to receive my unidentifying info. Have you recieved yours yet ? If yes, then did it give you any information to help you in your search ? Take care and good luck! Dawn

Dawn,
It took 4 months to get ours. But it was the best non id I have ever seen written, Josette wrote it like she was writting a story, she was very descriptive in describing his Bmother, it gave Rick a real sense of what she looked like. They also gave alot of other info about the family that was very helpful. She did a great job, I guess it depends on what she as to work with too. How was yours? Theresa If you want to mail me privatly you can mail me at Anglks2@aol.com

Theresa,
I got the description of my mom but not my dad. Josette didn't work there when I applied for my non-identifying info,I think it was about 12 years ago. I think I will ask for my non-id again and see if I get more information this time. I'll let you know what happens. Dawn

Dawn,
Thats what I would do, ask for it again. Although she did tell me she can only send info if there is any in the file. I think it would be worth a shot to do it. They are taking about 3-4 months to get back to you. Did you register with FARR? I have heard it is not that great and dont have many success stories. Theresa

Theresa,
Yes, I did register with FARR but no luck there either. I want to see if the court will let me get an intermediary to find my birth family. I have heard a couple of success stories that came from that. Dawn

Dawn,
I tried to get an intermediary, but Florida no longer uses them. According to Josette, they dont have the "manpower" to do that anymore. I tired to get one. SORRY ...... Theresa

Thank you Theresa for the information but I have one more question. What kind of information do I have to have to get non id? I don't have to much about my birth mother, except how old she was, where she worked, and where she went to school. I know where I was born and when and my doctor's name but that's it. Is that enough info.?
Thanks! |

You dont need any info about your birthfamily to get non-id. You need a copy of your Birth Certificate and ID, usually a drivers License. You can call them if you have any questions, If you dont have a copy of you Birth Certificate you can get one from
The Bureau of Vital Statistics Jacksonville, FL I am not sure of the exact address, I will try to find it and post it Good Luck Theresa
