I dont know if you have done any of this , but here are few resources that may help you in your search

The Florida Adoption Reunion Registry

The Florida adoption reunion registry is a confidential cross reference file of people who are or were the principal parties in an adoption. The Registry will match and disclose information to individuals who have authorized release of information to one another

Adult adopted persons who are 18 or older, adoptive parents, biological parents, biological siblings and biological grandparents may file identifying information. A minor adopted who is adopted may be registered by his or her adoptive parents.

Application forms may be obtained from:

FLORIDA ADOPTION REUNION REGISTRY

HRS CHILDREN AND FAMILIES PROGRAM OFFICE

1317 WINEWOOD BLVD TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA 32399-0700

904-488-8000

An initial filing fee of $35.00 is required and should be submitted with the application form. .

NON- IDENTIFYING INFORMATION

Adult adoptees seeking non- identifying information should request the information in writing from the HRS Post -Adoption. Adoptive parents may request this information on behalf of the minor. A copy of the birthcertificate and drivers license MUST be included when requesting non-identifing information.

HRS POST ADOPTION SERVICES UNIT CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAM OFFICE

1317 WINEWOOD BLVD Bldg 6 Unit 100
TALLAHASSEE FLORIDA 32399-0700

You also might want to register at ISRR
You can contact them at www.ISRR.net

Another good thing to do is to type "Florida adoption reunion registires" on a search, you will get back ALOT of registries, alot of them are free too. register, register and register !!! :-)

Best of Luck in your search,
Theresa

Thumbs up

Theresa

Thanks for the info. Besides posting a message on this website, I have not done anything.

This may sound stupid, but what do you mean by Identifying Information and Non- Identifying Information?

In addition, I have the date, place, court and case number of the adoption!! What can I do with this information? Thanks for the help.

Non-identifying information is information about your birthmother/father that does not identify them by name. For example it may include, their hair color, eye color, religon, education, if they have any other children, things that can not postively identify them. It varies from person to person what you get back. Some people get alot, others not much, it all depends on what is in your file.

Identifing information ( names ) is something you would get if you petitioned the court where you were adopted. It usually requires a hearing by a judge and you would need to say why you needed that info. Most of the time that information is VERY VERY hard to get, even in the case of an extreme emergency it is very , very hard to get.

FARR ( florida adoption reunion registry) is a state run reuion registry, that would be a good place for you to start. They charge a 1 time fee of 35.00. They put the information you give them into a database and search for matches.

There are alot of other registries out there that are free. As I suggested before type Florida Adoption Reunion Registries into your search engine. You will get ALOT of registiries back.

here are a few:

http://www.adoption.com

Best of luck in your search,

Theresa
