iso of my fathers birth parents/family, born 3/24/57 ??
my father was born approximately 3/24/57 in miami (?), florida. he has an older brother by a few years with red hair, my father has black hair. we dont know if they are biological brothers or not, but they were both adopted in florida by an older couple jean and sydney. we believe they were born at mt.sinai hospital. they were possibly helped by a dr. tenzel who was a female ob/gyn and assisted couples who could not conceive. i know of only 1 person at this point who is alive and knows the story, but she is unwilling to speak and says she doesnt remember. if you think you know anything relating to this or have any thoughts, please let me know.

Are you just beginning your search? If you have not done so already, you can try entering your father's information on all the reunion registries (there is one on this site as well as links to others). You have his birthdate and city, so it's possible you may find a match. Some registries (such as the ISRR) may not allow you to register because your father is the adoptee, not you. But enter your facts wherever you can. I was born in the early 50's, and I was recently "found" by some 2nd cousins who posted a query which I stumbled upon when googling my birthdate and city. (My bparents died long ago). So anything is possible...

thank you for the suggestions- i have googled and searched using the different pieces of information i have. unfortunately, most sites require information about my father that i don't have access to. are there other sites similar to this i should check out?

What kind of information about your father are you missing? Is he still alive? Do you have a copy of his birth certificate -- even if amended with his adoptive parents' names, it should list his birth date and city of birth. I'm not sure if you can request a copy yourself, or if he has to sign the form. Or maybe there's a birth database for his state that you can check. If he has died, you can request his death certificate -- that should include some birth information. His official birthday shouldn't be too hard to find (driver's license, social security, etc.). If you can't find the city of his birth, I would think that just the state would be sufficient. It might also be interesting to obtain his brother's birth certificate as well for comparison purposes.
I'm afraid I am not very knowledgeable about all the current adoption registries/sites -- I had basically given up any serious searching. But I just happened to google some key information one night, and at the age of 55, I found out who I was. Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck. |
