am looking for any triad member (s ) who have had any difficulties dealing with CHS especially in the state of Florida.... If you feel you have been treated unfairly if you think you may have been lied too, if they have failed to show you respect,if your wait has been unreasonable long, if they have unsuccessful with making contact or have told you that your triad member does not want contact etc , etc please reply to either my email or here.. thanks

Hi Shade, your buddy Linda here. Tell us what has happened so maybe we can help? Did you ever get medical info from your husbands bdad? What's happened? Any info on bmom? From several adoptees (but not in FL) CHS seems very compassionate and responsive and has a good reunion rate. Let us help. LM

Hey Linda,

Nice to hear from you. Well this is about more then us. First yes in all fairness we did get the genetic history for someone... I am first not 100 percent sure this man is my husbands bfather.. if they don't have the name of the birth mother how can they be sure they have the right father? Secondly they say they can't find the b mom, thirdly they have two part time searchers that is all, and they are out sick on vacation at conferences , rarely at work. If we in Florida are lucky they are at work two days a week. They fail to reply to phone calls, they fail to reply to emails, I have been told but has of yet have no proof that some people have actually caught them in lies.... They ignore judges order to turn over records( not my case a ICWA , indian welfare case) that was over a year ago, They feel they are beyond reproach. I can't understand why they were not charged with contemptof court . If i failed to follow the orders of a judge you can bet your bottom dollar I would be charged with contempt! I am meeting with a friend who is an attorney over the weekend to find out about this and other things. to me and this is only my opinion , I respect others to have the their own and you don't have to agree with me ( I willstill like you ) but to me there are both human and civil right being broken, the fact that in the 1950's many women were told to use false names and the courts just looked the other way this bothers me "it could be said that by failing to question or further investigate questionable documentation the courts allowed a perception that falsification, whether intentional or not was and is an acceptable practice for adoptions"(quoting a friend here) So you see there are many things bothering me right now about CHS in Florida.....and there not just with CHS but also have to do with the law ,,, which needs to be change,,, but one must risk and put forth effort for change to come,, and so begins my efforts..... this started off to be about my family but it has taken a life of its own............sorry if there are any typos i typed faster then I can think.... any replies are welcomed ,,, even those who disagree... I welcome the feedback ... hope all is okay iwth you Linda........

Hi Shade, I'll be interested to hear what your attorney friend thinks. It sounds like its the particular office that is a problem. I wonder if there is a "corporate office" that you can go over their head? Hope you got good info from bdad. You would think he could provide the bmom's name to CHS (seems a no-brainer, but---). I understand the frustration knowing how passionate you are about this search.
On a final note, I hope to have some news to post if not another dead end. Will email you and post here if there is anything exciting to report in the next day or so.

Thanks for your reply Linda, to answer your question about the info from the b dad i don't know if you would say it is good or bad , it is VERY IMPORTANT though that we have it, both paternal grandparents died from Cancer, the b father has Cancer the paternal Aunt has diabetes.... The b father has had a kidney removed... We are hoping to get the genetic info from the mother and then seek genetic counseling for our children..... as for the b dad naming the b mom this is where I become suspcious,,,, the agency was able to locate the b father who was rarely named in the 1950's they mentioned the b moms name and the b father states : oh no that is not her name her name was *****( wish i knew) . First off I can tell you right now that CHS knew all along that b moms used alias back then ,,, so they knew before calling the father they had a false name, secondly now the case worker has the name but has not "had the time to look for her" because she has not been to work for in weeks she comes back and now states she does not have the "time" to search as she is busy with other cases..... I appreciate we are not her only case , I understand she is overworked, underpaid and understaffed but honestly that is not our problem our problem is a sick child , our problem is we lost a child to a heart defect our problem is we need a complete up to date genetic history.
and yes there is one place we can go to our legislators and tell them the LAW IS WRONG and needs to be changed other then that not even unsealing the records will help , as the reliquishing party of record is CHS!

hi shade, yes i've had trouble with chs as well. before they send me anything it's going to cost me more money. and as you know, they can't guarantee anything. they use the same excuse, understaffed, time, etc. when i placed my son with them, i signed 3 copies of permission to adopt papers, and 3 copies stating i was an unwed mom. i was supposed to get copies of those then. i left with nothing but a wad of soaked kleenex in my hand. i have heard from other seekers, mostly adoptees, that the info on their birth certs was changed. how is anyone supposed to locate anyone with incorrect info? the only thing i have heard from omnitrace is that they located the birthfather. big whoop. he didn't care then so why should he care now? nothing else new to report on my search. i wish you and yours god speed in your search. my prayers are with you. please stay in touch.

are you in Florida? Let me know I can put you in touch with some search angels who know a lot about CHS... We ( my hubby is the adoptee) had a very difficult time with CHS several years ago. I know if we find his birth parents CHS will not be the reason. It is very frustrating knowing CHS has all the information my hubby is looking for about HIMSELF and he is not allowed to know all they know. Strange society , huh.
