My bmom stayed at FCH in charlotte NC from Jan.70 to June 70.

Hi Redbird and Tricia.I was there at that time and my daughter was born in May 1970. I do not know what agency she was sent to, my stepfather kept all that from me.I know i had her in Charlotte Hospital, she would have black hair and very dark eyes.If you need to know anymore feel free to write me. My husband was born in Charlotte in 1966 July 4 we are having difficulties getting started on our search for his bfamily. i have found records of children born 7/4/66 in Charlotte . one mother that day had a child with no identifying father . I really am getting my hopes up here, I called Department of Social servicesin Charlotte (with no luck) what to do ?

First- was your husband's adoption facilitated by the Meck Co. DSS? If so, then your husband needs to write to them to obtain his non-id.

I seriously doubt the child you were referring to born in Charlotte, without a father, is your husband. Almost all adoption related births have been expunged after about 1961 from the Meck county website.

Also, your husband is entitled to his Final Order of Adoption/ Fianl Decree. If the adoption was finalized in Charlotte, you can call Marilyn Feaster 704/336-3279, if it was finalized in another county then you need to obtain this from the clerk's office in Superior Court, in that county. It does not have any identifying info on it, but has very valuable info on it.

Arrowbear - Mecklenburg county did not start removing adoption related b.c.'s until around 1960-61. So your original b.c. is still available from Meck county. The great thing about that is, it will give you clues about where your mom was living at time of birth and where she was born.
I'll try to go today if the rain (Ivan) hold off.

Edenlady - I checked the same Mecklenburg county website for you and your brother's births. I did not see anything that might be a match. Is he your biological brother? Do you know for fact that you were born in NC? Your b.c.'s are more than likely still available in the county of birth (if) it was NC. Since most counties did not remove them at that time. If you could just find out where you were born, then have someone go to that county and check for.
