looking for half-sister

Hi, I was wondering if anybody remembers/or knew my mother, she stayed at the FCH in DC in 1966. She gave up my half sister up for adoption. And I'm now trying to locate my half-sister. My mom's name is patricia johnson, she was in the peace corps at the time. She had been in Africa before going to the FC home.
Also, does anyone knows what processes to take when looking for a family member?
Thank you
