not sure if it will help but....
Hi
I am not sure how much of this will help but my husband was also born in st petersburg and CHS handled the adoption I have learned a lot in the last eight months of searching. First does your ammended birth certiifcate have a code for the hospital such as 62-10 or 62-30 62-15 etc . if so what is the code . 62 means the birth occurred in Pinellas County. Let me know which code you have, this will help determine if home for unwed mothers was salavation army or florence crittenton, salavation army was located in Tampa, Florence Crittendton in St Petersburg. Secondly CHS is notoriously SLOW ....even in cases of medically emgerency.....maybe it would be different if the medical issue was serious life or death at that moment.... but i have had a son died and another child who has an inherited "blood" disorder...... and they are trying not to say they aren't ,but we began in July and here we are in February. I can't say I" blame" the case worker per se , but the organization is understaffed, over worked and probably under paid. Our case worker only works two days a week,,, wish I had such a luxury.... anyway get back with me on the codes and I will try to help you figure out which hospital... By the way happy V -DAY! yes thank you 62 as we figured out is St petersburgh
confirmed thru chs born in ST petersburg, Pinellas county Other code is 163 so bc code reads 62-163. Speaking with case worker she said that birthmother came from out of state to have him.She also went on to say: Many girls were housed those days at unwed mothers homes and there wAs a florence crittendon in st pete at the time and somtimes they had there own placement agency. My husband went thru three places before final placement. She did not mention Salvation army home. I don't know if there was a Salvation army home or not. She wouldn't tell us what unwed mothers home she was in or from where she came, nationality or anything else but she was kind enough to devulge this information for free. When we file all paper work we will be put on a long waiting list to have his case looked into. It is so fustarating to my husband. His birthdate is confirmed 10-14-67. He was taken to childrens home society in St pete after he was relinquished shortly after birth. Thank you for your help God Bless you Have you had any luck in your search. |

hmmm....
Usually they will tell you want nationality your birth parents are...... I can tell you this , may help with the process of elimination in 1958 62-10 was Mounds Park, but Mounds Park was replaced by Bay Front Hospital not sure what year, from what I have learned most of the women that stayed at FCH delivered at Mounds Park because it was apparently right around the corner..yes it is very frustrating to know that a case worker who has not ties , no bonds , no emotions at sake can have my husband, your husbands or anyones id right in front of them and now be "allowed" to give it to the person to whom it truly belongs the adoptee. We all must stand up and write our law makers in droves... be relentless with them.... it is time adoptees were treated like all other citizens .............Just my opinion..........
