Kristia,

Yes, the Flo Crit in D.C. was in operation up until 1983.

That is the institution in which I was an "inmate" as an "unwed" mother in 1966.

It is on Reservoir Road iin North West Washington, D.C. close to Georgetown Hospital. It is now called The Lab School.

Hugs,
KarenWB

Being comfortable isn't the same as making a choice to be hidden away and have your baby removed from you!

You are a mother of the Baby Scoop Era. Have you learned about this? Do you feel that returning home without your baby was the right thing for you?

Did anyone ever offer you help to keep?

Greetings, Do you have any listings for Michigan? If so, the Flint or Detroit area is where I would be looking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim

My mother stayed in a home for unwed mothers somewhere in Richmond, Virginia from Sept 1965 through November 1965. She does not know the name of the place. Do any of you have any ideas? I found a forum entry where someone mentioned the Evangeline Booth Home in Richmond but I am unable to find any details on it.

Was there a Florence Crittenton Home in Richmond, VA in 1965?

Thanks,
Jon

Hi Jon,

I have an old handbook that lists maternity homes around the country other than the Flo Crits. In the Richmond area there are:

St. Gerard's Maternity Home
2511 Wise Street
Richmond, VA 23508

The Salvation Army Home
2705 Fifth Avenue, Highland Park
Richmond, VA 23222

Seton House
7700 Washington Highway
Richmond, VA 23227

I hope this helps!

Hugs,

I was in Florence Crittenton in Atlanta area in 1972..gave my son up for adoption. Do you have any info on how to contact or find someone to help with finding him? Is there a main database that can be accessed? Appreciate any help you can give me.

Unhappy Looking for adopted sibling

Hello... My name is Bella. I was told this Christmas about a family secret. When my mother was 18 yrs old she got pregnant by a soldier in Berlin Germany. Her family sent her to live at Florence Crittendon Home in Chicago Illionois. She gave birth to a daughter in June or July of 1963. I am trying to find her. Does anyone have any information they can share on where to start?

Thank you much.

Bella

That was at the home in St Petersburg Florida. Seeing if anyone is out there that might now. Would have been March and May 1970 that she was there. Ring any bells for anyone???

I signed up on this website as looking for my son. His wife & her dad searched and found me through this site. It took 3 years from the time I listed but there are not many other websites out there that do this so post your information and wait. If they want to find you and are lucky enough to have your last name, it will happen.

Smile Need address for a FCH

Hi I am looking for a address for the FCH that was in Alexandria Virginia. I believe that the home closed in the early 1970's. Perhaps you have this information. It would be valueable to myself and the two sisters that I have found so far.
Thanks
Tazwell
