Where was the home in NJ? Was it in or near Trenton? I found a first cousin, who was born in one.

Florence Crittenton Home State Listing

Can you tell me if there was a home in Wayne, NJ in 1964? I know there were homes in Atlantic City, and Camden at this time, but I've been told there was one in Wayne, but can't find it.
Called the DC office, and was told they had a fire in the 80's and lost all information/files.

Thanks!

Trish

I think CC used the Florence Christian Home in Wayne

When I used CC in 1968, one of my options was the Florence Christian Home, 246 Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne (973-956-1189). The building is still there, with the name on a sign in front. Since Grace Losty was my social worker, perhaps this is where your mother stayed. But in the mid 60's, girls were even housed at St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic (I was a candystriper there then).

Allisonb

Hello there! I am reading all of these entries and wishing I had somewhere to start. I was a private adoption and really have no way of knowing if she was in a home for unwed mothers or what. How would I go about finding out any information? I'm afraid I will have to petition the court to open my records and who has the funds for that? I'm new in my search and would really love some help. Born Charleston SC, 1970.

Thanks!
Allisonb

Could you tell me when the FC Home in Trenton NJ was closed, if it was? I was there in 1988. Also, i've tried to email the University of M (?) and got a reply that my email would be sent to the correct department for my inquiry of my FCH records and that was the last i heard. Do you have a phone number for them? Thanks! Becky

Peoria, Ill

Just wondering if you have the address for the Florence Crittenton Home in Peoria, Ill. back in 1976?

Im helping a friend find her birth mom, she lived there while pregnant & then delivered at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria, IL --

Does anyone know if girls in 1976 were sent away to another city or do you think she lived in the same city where she delivered?

I live in California & have no idea where the birth mom could have gone to school, we only have a first name!

thanking you in advance,
Cathy
