Love it!!!

Lisa I love your additude! For all of the times I was on the phone with the lovely (not !!) probate clerk knowing that she was looking at everything I was almost begging for! Then, on one of my court documents they typed the wrong middle name for me. So when I called up her response was to GIGGLE and say it was a mistake! Giggle I tell you! Here I was almost bauling and she thought her mistake was cute! I thought it was one of those "hints" or "mistakes" that we look for but no, it really was a mistake!
So I love that you were able to say what I think, what so many of us think. If I could be a fly on the wall, well I would need to be a super strong fly so that I could open the pages to all of our files.
Red tape.......ya! Just try to stop us all!

Well, thank you...lol

Wendy,

Oh isn't it just unbearably frustrating? I mean, c'mon! Loosing your sense of humor is very easy through all of this. You poor thing....I would have been livid with a mistake like that. But you know, unless you've walked our shoes, people on the other end of the spectrum I don't think will ever truly appreciate this frustration...little mistakes or big mistakes - - this is about YOU and you would appreciate NO typos please! You have to be so polite you feel like you're dancing around with one hand on your hip and the other behind your head trying to make a good impresson so maybe they will have pity on you because one false move could do you in and maybe you'll get lucky! I think I had better luck on dates. I feel sorry for the search angels who have/had trying/tried to help me....ha ha...The politeness is killing me. I want to reach across the phone to these courts and agencies, grab their collar and say "look here, I'm not very happy right now and you're not improving the situation" Ha Ha. Anyway, hang in there, and I will try to hang...somewhere....in the meantime....lol.

xoxo Lisa

FCH in Youngstown, Ohio

I was born in a FCH in Youngstown, Ohio 04-10-66. The home closed sometime in the 70's and was changed to a drug and alcohol center for teens. Ironically, I used to be a teen peer counselor for teens who preferred talking to other non-alcoholic teens, never knowing the history of the building. How would I find any information on where the records of this FCH went to?

Hi I was in the Florence Crittenton home in Newark New Jersey in 1964. It was also called the William Ward Home. It was located at 2 Ogdon Street in Newark. Most of the Births took place at St. Michaels Hospital on High Street in Newark. I have been searching for my Son born July 24,1964 for over 20 Years and keep getting no where. I have found out that the home is no longer there. I was wondering if you know how I could find records from that home. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Desperate birth mom

Thumbs up destilexi Check with....

Check with Angelwings2002 or one of the Senior members. I am new to the site also and have just begun my search. As I understand it... there are Searchers for each state that can help... I dont know the Searchers in New Jersey but I am sure they can help. I do know that they will tell u to get your non id info to assist in the research.

I hope this helps... I will be praying for you that your search will be swift and happy.

If I find a name for you of one of the Searchers in Jersey, I will let you know...

Smile Destilexi Go To....

Go to Search & Reunion... then by State... check in the New Jersey posts... there are folks in there that can help... also they have alot of starter information you can use to begin gathering your information. From what I understand, many of the FCH names were changed to Family's First and records were often sent to various agencies. If I find out anymore info... I will let you know...

Newark New Jersey

Hello,

There was a Florence Crittenton Home in Newark, but it doesn't look like they have a specific contact in Newark. Instead what they provide is a listing for all Mid-Atlantic Regional homes; New Jersey is one that fits in that criteria. I will give you the contact information, and they should be able to tell you where to go from there for records for Newark:

Florence Crittenton Services of the
Greater Washington Area
815 Silver Spring Avenue
Silver Spring, Maryland 20910
Attn: Nora Palmatier
P: 301-565-9333
npalm-fcs@starpower.net

Good luck,

Lisa

Florence Crittenton Home DETRIOT

I have a sister that was born at the home in Detriot in 69. My mother (her birthmother) and I have been told that it's been since shut down. How do we come in contact with records and any information about the birth now?
