My girlfriend adopted her neice and nephew from russia about 10 months ago. Even though I have been with them from the start I am having trouble developing a good relationship with them. And I can't get them to talk to me in english. So we have a huge language barrier that really makes me frustrated all of the time when we don't all speak together. I have never been in a situation where I was around children all of the time and I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any advise for me on how to be their friend and develope that relationship with them. And overcome the language barrier? They are 14 years-old twins: girl and a boy.

Have you considered taking a course in Russian? Also, how old are they? Young kids do well with pictures and games and don't always need the spoken language to talk. Make it as fun as you can!!
