My one year old has a cold. He has consistantly for three days woke up at 2&3am screaming. He does not want food. He is not wet. He refuses to go to sleep. What do I do. Are things more serious? No fever is present. He just cries like its the end of the world. After three sleepless nights for me I am finding it hard to function. Please help.

He could have fluid in his ears. My niece never runs a fever with ear infections but she has a lot of fluid in her ears. This can cause scarring and is very painful. Has your child seen a doctor?

also!
If he is not breathing well because of his cold you can steam the bathroom and have him sit in there and play! I also agree with the ear infection notion...it is VERY painful when the child lies down! I actually bet that is what your son is going through, I would take him in and get him on an antibiotic! Just think how you can not function..he isn't getting sleep and is not feeling well either..poor thing! Good Luck to you!
