1st birthday
I need ideas my dd turns 1 next month! I want to go all out, however; there won't be a lot of children...mainly adults! Do I go for it or should I keep it simple and wait until she is older for an all out b-day party?

Feb. 29, 08 - Met w/agency Mar. 29, 08 - Signed contract w/agency & hs May 16, 08 - Matched  May 30, 08 - HS done  Sept. 16, 08 - Baby girl born Oct. 24, 08 - Finalized..she is all ours :March 09 - Phone call from birthmom...pregnant again April 30, 09 - Picked birthmom up at airport May 2, 09 - Heard & saw baby (ultrasound) May 25, 09 - Found out birthmom was smoking crack & pot while up here! Was smoking crack the whole time during pregnancy, was stealing from stores, trying to hook out of my sisters house...wouldn't keep her blood sugar under control, etc. so we had to give her a choice...go to drug rehab or go home! She decided to go home because she wasn't ready to get off of the drugs! She was planning on taking us for everything we had (her words) if it were to be a boy!(we would of found out on 5/28) My heart is still breaking!

How was your little one's bday? In the Polish culture, the first birthday is the biggest one, followed by your 18th. But the fanfare depends on the family. Some have full parties as if for adults, others just close family. Either way, there is a tradition of picking between three items on the day of the 1st bday - a prayer book, shot glass, or cash. It's supposed to tell the fortune for the child's future. In my case and that of my two siblings (we each picked a different item), it looks to be true!

Dec 13 ~ Inform my mom that she's going to be a grandmother April 6 ~ Our daughter is due to enter the world!
