Growth spurts??
Okay, I think everytime I mention something to someone about the baby eating more or eating less, sleeping more or sleeping less, they tell me "maybe it is a growth spurt."
What do you all think of "growth spurts"?? Are there any signs?? Is the fact that my 5 month old has stopped sleeping through the night a sign of a "growth spurt"??? 'cause if it is, I want it to stop!!! She is wide awake, happy as can be, screaming her head off.... Yikes!!Help!!?? Mega

It's funny, before I was a parent I assumed that once a baby was ABLE to sleep through the night that meant they WOULD sleep through the night. It's really a shame that isn't true. I hope you can get some sleep again soon!
I've always figured sleeping MORE and eating MORE might mean a growth spurt. But I know growth spurts can sometimes be uncomfortable which might be waking her up. It's just so hard to be sure - and I would guess it could be any number of things. Anytime my babies start something unusual people say "oh, they must be teething". Whatever. ![]()

Every time we had a stretch of unusual fussiness or sleep issues, it would be shortly followed by either a big change in development (he started crawling, talking, emotional milestones, etc) or he grew. I'd be thinking of what could be causing all the problems - is it teeth? gas? Is he sick? - for days on end, then he'd suddenly start doing something new and BAM! -- We'd be back to normal, happy baby and routines..
