Is this normal?

Hi,
My soon to be one year old daughter has recently started grabbing at her private area as soon as I take off her diaper. She doesn't cry or show signs of discomfort while doing so. I don't see any rash or obvious cause for discomfort and she doesn't pay that area any attention other times far as I can tell, only when I take the diaper off to change her. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on?
Thanks in advance!

If I remember correctly (my girls are 10 & 8) it is just pure curiousity. Some boys will do it for a long time but girls seem to be less interested after awhile.

Completely normal. Every kiddo that's been through my home has done it.

I have 3 boys - 16, 9 and 17mons. Do they ever stop?

My lil guy gets mad when I put the diaper on, 'cuz he can't get it anymore!
Actually, his circumcision isn't the greatest (GGRRRRR to the doc that did it!) It often gets stuck in. My Dr said to "Let PooWee work it back out!" Yes, she encouraged him to "play" with it!

I think it's normal for boys and girls to be curious of that area. It always covered up unlike their toes and ears, which they play with too.

Thanks! I try to distract her with a toy because I was concerned she might scratch herself and it usually works.
