Flu shot?

Josh has a well-baby check up tomorrow where he'll get shots. (We do vaccinate, even though I'm cautious about it) I know they'll ask about a flu shot. He'll be 7 mo next week. I'm not sure what to do - the news channel here did a blurb today at lunch about how the flu is so much more dangerous for babies and young children and therefore the shot is worth it, but still I'm not sure. He's really not exposed to a ton of people, but he's only been stateside for 2 months so everything he's being exposed to is new. I'm just not sure whether to go for it or not. Thoughts?

Jenny

All I can say is that is up to each family and person.

My dh works for a hospital so flu shot is importants.

Talk to your childs doctor for recomendations.

I believe that the flu shots still contain thimerosol if that concerns you.

It is a personal choice. My daughter has gotten it every year. She has had the flu once but a very mild case thank goodness. Discuss all the options with your ped first.

Research and then do what you are comfortable with. Dd has had two doses per year because she has a compromised immune system. With her asthma, RSV history and premature birth, I was glad to be offered the option. However, If she was a bit healthier, I would probably opt for no flu shot.

Dd never had any problems with either shot, not even mild temp or fussiness.

DH has the flu! I got a shot and DS is supposed to get his soon but doesn't have it yet. Seeing how ill my husband has been ...I'm going to vaccinate. I had forgotten how bloody AWFUL the flu is.

H got one. Here's the link to the CDC website about this year's vaccine.

Personallly, I'm a lot more concerned about the risks of a baby getting the flu than about the shot.
