According to my First Year book, which I can't live without, you're supposed to keep their rooms cool. It makes them more comfortable and reduces SIDS risk. I guess when they're sleeping and too warm there's a higher incidence of SIDS. So Eve wears her jammies with no blanket and we put the A/C on low. She seems to like it. In fact, the only thing she likes blankets for is to chew on.

Is your positioner the one w/ the flat sheet that has a little flat foam semicircular pillow at the top and 2 wedge shaped cushions that velcro onto the sheet? You can put baby on his side in that one and adjust the wedges to keep him on his side, plus the flat foam pillow keeps baby from flat head.

No bumper will make it easier to change the crib sheet---that is hard no matter what!!

Bumpers, positioners and room temp: because I am CRAZY paranoid about SIDS, and all 3 have been linked, I use no bumpers or positioners, and keep Little Lamb on the cool side (even if that means sleeping in a onesie or just a diaper). I did swaddle him for a long time, and even now at 6 mos. will occassionally swaddle his legs still. He sticks his legs through the crib slats sometimes, so I have considered breatheable bumpers, but I'm just not sure. The risk of SIDS decreases after 6 mos, so I might do it. . . Also, for changing sheets, I use the "ultimate crib sheet" on top of his regular sheets. They are really expensive, but they are SOOOO easy to change, even if you have a bumper.

By the way, for those whose babies will not stay on their backs, I had to laugh! DS will not stay on his stomach longer than 20 seconds before flipping over! I don't think he's ever going to crawl!!!
