From Formula to Milk
I saw the thread similar to this in the toddler forum. I read those responces, but my question is a little different and I would like some opinions please.
DS is 10 months old now and over the last little bit, he is growing like a weed. We are on step 2 formula for the extra calcium. We do have the go ahead to go to Homo milk now. DS eats like a horse, he eats EVERYTHING now and lots of it, plus he is getting ample cereal to be sure. I was going to wait until at least a year but... Here are my reasons for maybe starting now and my plan, please tell me what you think: I want to serve milk from a cup or staw not a bottle. DS wants to drink like a 'big boy' and only wants his bottle before bed. I don't want to give formula in the cup - I want it to be for milk. I had been letting him drink fomula from the cup, but have stopped in anticipation of a switch and now he drinks water from his cup. So my plan is to serve him milk in his cup during the day, but still give him a bottle of formula before bed. Do you think he is going to let me do both? He sleeps about 12 straight hours at night, so I think the formula will keep him full longer than milk at night. Also, he is growing very well, but is on the thin side, so I would like to keep the bottle of formula in there. I read some other replies about milk vs fomula / cup vs bottle thing. Am I overthinking this as well? DS seems to be telling me he is ready to ditch his bottle during the day, but does 10 or 11 months seem to young? I hope this is not to much babbling. I am really interested to hear your opinions and if any other babies started milk / cups this young? Thanks, Michelle
