our first doctors issues

Well since Char wrote about being a bad mommy... I felt we all need a bit of a dialog as to when to call the doctor or when to go to the doctor.

With Jaz I finally called the doctor last week because she was having tar like poop and very liquid. A bit of spitting up, and congestion.

Well it turns out she is lactose intollerant, and has thrush.. So we changed her to soy milk and are giving her meds for the thrush.. They say to avoid thrush the best thing to do is always he said is to wash her tongue and mouth w/ a wet washcloth after each feeding. He said also before doing it let her have some water to dilute the formula in her mouth already.. OK do you think I wash out her mouth each and every time??? NOT!!! So what are we doing now... yup washing out her mouth.. oyyyy

Who else has a story??

Well, ours comes at 22 months old. So here goes. I have a lot of experience with ear infections. Kelcee has probably had 10-12 in the last 20 months. Just a few weeks ago she started having trouble sleeping at night, rubbing her cheek a lot an so on. By the 3rd night of this she becomes hysterical for over 2 hours. I call my mom and say "how long do you let a 22 month old cry?" She says, do you think she has an ear infection since she has a cold for over a week now? Whaaaaaat! Why didn't I think of that. I take her to the dr the next day and low and behold she has an ear infection. I guess not having one for several months I forgot how they happen????????????

I have never washed out Isabella's mouth. I do give her water to wash out her mouth once in a while. Honestly, I don't think she would let me

I actually called the nurse's line for the first time with a question on Tuesday...Emma had two poops the night before, then one in the morning, then another in the afternoon...too many poops for me!!! They suggested mixing some pedialyte with her formula for the next day not wanting her to dehydrate. Seems to have helped, but she is now coughing and congested so I called and am bringing her in today. Probably just a cold which it seems she has generously shared with hubby and I!
But I know what you mean about calling the doctor...I certainly don't want to freak about everything!! Go with your gut, I guess. Better safe, than sorry!

Oh, and I never heard of washing their mouth after their formula, never read it in any book either????

AJ - I sent you a pm.
