Uh, Baby Book

I'm posting here even though Nicholas is (*weep*) no longer a First Year buddy... but it's a first year "issue" or question.

So, uhm, who kept up to date with their child's baby/life book? Because, uhm, I did great through his birth and then... uhm...

I'm trying to get caught up a few months at a time right now, working backwards because that's where my memory is freshest.

I just need some support that I'm not a heinous Mom because I let this slip. Gah.

Let's see . . .

My 21 year old's book is finished up to the 8 year old point. My 16, 7, 7, 4 & 4 year olds books aren't started yet. All the "important information" is scribbled down on papers & in a folder with their names on it. I think you're in GREAT shape compared to me! LOL OH YEAH! Forgot to say my 24 year olds is done thru high school graduation which is where I stop & they can take over themselves. LOL Had to add that one positive note!!!!

I just finished H's (all at once) in February. I hadn't done anything at all, then I decided to just lay it all out and get it done. I am such a neat freak I couldn't stand all the stuff being out for very long, so it made me get finished quickly. Haven't started on this year's (that we are now six months into!) yet.

Don't feel bad.

First off, you are a GREAT MOM!!!!!!!! I struggle with keeping up with this stuff too. Bug's book is only upto month 10 (although I have all the pieces, they just aren't in the book) and Roo, well, is his even started? Nope! I am good at taking pics etc but not in putting it together so it's there. You are working on it, that is what matters.

And again, you are a GREAT Mom!!!! (Can you tell I read you blog????)

Jenna -
I am right there with you working very hard to catch up on Jessica's book. I wrote down the dates a lot of stuff happened, but never really worked much on the book until recently. Some of this is because I waited for quite awhile to find a baby book that I liked and that was geared towards adoption. You are not a bad Mom at all. It sounds like we all have good intentions.

Em, I just laughed at the "LL" on your forehead.

I did do a few months over the weekend. Basically, I have stuff written down for months 1, 2 and 3, and pictures and stuff written for months 9, 10, 11 and first year birthday. Now I need to pick pictures for 1-8 and write stuff for 4-8 as well.

Why is it so DAUNTING?!

I find it so daunting because I want it to be perfect! Which it won't be, so I keep "thinking" about it. Yah, that makes for a lot of interesting reading, ha.

Okay, I'm going to take it out tonight.
Another "lifebook loser" over here!

I have also found that next time I know what I want in a baby book. Now that I have used it some, I don't think the layout is all that "user friendly."

Cracking me up, Crick....

I think it's daunting in a way because we don't really want to finish up a whole first year of things! Or even put it all down so that we have to look at it all again from those very first moments we had with out child, and move on through to be reminded at how all the time has gone by in lightning speed to this day!

Plus, if you're like me, and actually, we all know you're WAY ahead of me probably in the volume of pictures to rifle through, there are SO MANY, it's hard to choose what wonderful moments and photos to include!

I have his baby books probably only done up to 6 or 8 months. And his scrapbooks? Sporadic moments through month 12 with many months and holes to fill in.......

You're normal! Well, as normal as any of the rest of us...
