Rainy Day with Baby
I'm finally off (after working a total of ten days straight) on Thursday with the Nickmeister. Forecast? Rain. We do plan on getting his 7 month portraits taken in the morning. But, as he's now used to being outside as much as possible, what do you do when the weather isn't permitting outside play? With a kid under one year?
Has anyone tried non-toxic fingerpainting yet? What do you do with your little one inside that is a "big hit?"

Some things Bug and I did at that age when it was raining... now I'm from a small town so there isn't the go to the mall scenario... chairs and blankets make great tents (or big boxes with both ends open)... fingerpainting is fun especially if you have lino and babe in dipe only, put large (and I mean large... I always get the end rolls of newprint, clean, cheap) paper on floor and go at it, both of you, full body paints. Just make sure you have the tub ready for after. Books...dancing to favorite CDs... we've done those "cement" blocks where you can put hand and footprints, one for her first mom, another for my parents. If I come up with some more ideas, I'll post again. |

My grammy always used to make our fingerpaints. She used food coloring and corn starch. Don't know how safe they are for baby, but they sure were fun!

Bathtime is always a big hit in our house. We have several bath toys & bath books for tub time. We pop in a cd, sing & splash.
Reading & looking at books. K also has his own drawer in the kitchen he can pull out his wooden spoons & pans to bang around on. We had a lot of fun stamping his feet to make mothers day cards (he was 9 mo then) I tried stamping his hands but that craft will have to be saved for a later date! He did have fun with it though!
