Crawling! Yesterday.
And he now has seven teeth, working on two more. *blinks*

It does seem like once they start in, they just don't stop!

Gardenia - I remember thinking about the turning over, "Okay. YOu can do it easily one way - why is it taking so long the other???" We didn't think he'd EVER get there...

NOW - crawling like crazy and pulls himself up to standing. He babbles a lot now- we're pretty sure we've heard the word "dog" several times, but not sure he exactly knows what/when he says it. I haven't written it down yet in the book.

In the last week he has been able to eat some foods w/ some rougher textures (he LOVED my homemade peas! I was worried they weren't smooth enough, but no problems!) and doesnt' gag so much on those types of things now. He also can handle the veggie puffs (lovely little sweet potato stars), too.

He's more into things that move now, as far as toys. So Mamaw got him two new cars last night that are great - they move very easily and are sort of soft, so easy for him to grip and just the right size for his hands.

It's all to close to the first year mark! I can't believe it!

H stood on his own w/ no support for about a minute this weekend and has started handing you things when you ask for them.

Now I feel like going home for lunch every day---I'm afraid I'm going to miss something!

Well, I don't know if this will be consider a milestone, since my Sophia started crawling this past week, but BACKWARDS!!!! I assume it will take a couple of days to figure it out to go forward instead!

Before Jessica started crawling forward she went through a backward phase as well. She even tried to "bear walk" (on hands and feet, but knees up) before she started the tradional crawl. Eventually she got it right.

THe backward crawl? Oh yes. We spent weeks just "crawling" backwards by pushing himself w/ his arms plus doing a nice scoot around on his bum. Too cute to watch! She'll be going forward before you know it!

And Jenna - EVERYWHERE as in toward all the outlets, cords TV remotes, electronic equipment, dog bowls, stairs, vacuums and plants?

Yeah. I had to run around and "childproof" last night. I say that in quotes because... does it matter?

LOL---Do they crawl anywhere else?

The climbing is getting worse---last night, while in his playpen in the family room, H turned over his shape sorter, then dragged a blanket over it, and used it as a step to try to climb out.

I'm thinking of just buying one of those bouncy castles and locking him in it until it's time for junior high.

My daughter is 13 months and has been taking swimming lessons all summer. She finally learned to kick and swim under water. It is great.

cruising on down the road

Forgot to update - Dude, we're CRUISIN'! Slowly but surely. Daddy thinks it will be up to a full fledged walk in 2 weeks (I'm not so sure, but he sure is fun to watch right now!)

So, crawls, pulls up to stand holding onto anything, cruises a little, but since he's been so busy w/ the motor skills, he hasn't said anything else yet. "Dog" hasn't even been uttered recently. But he's still babbling. I'm not worried.

But still no more teeth..... Poor boy will be going to first grade with only two front bottom teeth.

HBV - any more teeth on your end yet?

Nope. The second one is clearly outlined on the gum, but no breakthrough yet. He took 4 steps on his own last week, stands for longer and longer periods---especially if he's holding something.

WHOA! 4 steps. That is amazing. I cannot imagine seeing A take those steps for the first time. Wow.

Isn't it neat how each child just seems to work at things at his own pace? They're all doing these huge feats and are so clever, and yet they're all doing them differently or at different times. It must be neat to have more than one child and REALLY see some differences in how each one develops in his own special way.......
