As much as I love, it, I'm afraid the Boppy stage is almost at an end. I was sitting on the couch with Eve beside me in her Boppy last night. She was babbling at me and the dog (her favorite unperson), and all the sudden she sat right up, leaned off to the right and rolled out of the Boppy. If I wouldn't have been right there, she would have kept going until she hit the floor. Yikes!
So I'm thinking it's time for one of those little Bumbo seat things. I understand they can't get out of those or make them move so easily. I also think that she may be teething. We're not in the trenches yet, but she's always chewing on her fist, hungry or not, and the drool is running. Her gums aren't swollen, but I keep checking. |

Don't get rid of the Boppy, though. H is almost 2, and now he likes to carry it over to his little armchair, sit down on the armchair, then put the Boppy around his waist---just like Mama. He props his book on it and pretends to read.
I think he got the idea because I still do use the Boppy sometimes to read in bed or in the big armchair. I LOVE THE BOPPY. |

THis week I saw two teeth coming in on top!
K is also pulling up to stand, and tries to clear off shelves. Has had no interest in her own toys since she started crawling. Oh, and yesterday she signed her second sign--for "fan"! Now when she sees the ceiling fan she makes the sign! Nikianni, getting a bumbo seat is something I will definitely get for our next one. I would have used it for quite a while with our baby K.

I never thought of using the Boppy to read in bed! Seriously, has there been a better invention since toilet paper? lol
Red: What do you use when K's gums are sore? I was give teething tablets and of course told to freeze theething rings. Is there anything else? As young as Eve is, I think we're right on the verge. How young can they be to use a Bumbo seat? Eve has good neck control, but she isn't sitting up all by herself for much time at all yet. |

Nikki--I would think to use the bumbo to wait until maybe 4 months when the head control is steady and stronger. But one person to ask would be mommamarci--she really liked it.
Not sure why, but teething has been okay here. K hasn't acted any differently, and we didn't know teeth were coming in until they were there already. I ahve heard of the tablets, and someone recommended frozen mini bagels, if I remember correctly. Other suggestions I have heard for teething pain have been chewing on a celery stalk or sucking on a pacifier that has been in the fridge or freezer.

For teething - we wouldn't have survived without the Camilia Teething drops or Hyland's Teething tablets (both homeopathic and work much better than Orajel, since you don' thave to guess which part of the gum is sore. Also seem MUCH more long-lasting).
Aside from that, our boy wasn't too hip on the cold teethers we kept int he fridge for long periods, but he would sure chew on a chilled baby washcloth that had been in the freezer for a little while. Other than those things, we just let him have his paci as much as he wanted during the harder teething bouts. The sucking really seemed to help him.

I second Stork on the Camillia and the Hylands, (BTW Stork, have I ever thanked you for the recomendations. Really I could kiss ya! LOL I never would have know about those two life savers without this forum!)
And on the cool wet wash cloth. Also, if you have on of those mesh feeder bags, put some frozen fruit in it like banana or mango and try that. That one worked really well with DS. Or and ice cube if you haven't given fruit yet. Nikki - Oh and the bumbo... I think we would put DS in for brief periods at about 3 months. If Eve is holding her head well, the bumbo helps them sit up so it should be ok. DS didn't much care for his after 4 months, actually he never did much like it. He was to busy and it was too confining for him. So the only use we really got was from about 3 to maybe 4.5 months.

Thanks! I'll go out and look for those specific tablets soon. I think we're going to need them. Thanks for the washcloth and bagel ideas too! She doesn't seem to like the teething rings much.
