Exclamation Worst. Sound. EVER.

Yesterday, Nicholas started grinding his teeth. The sound makes me want to jump out the window.

I know it's just because his top teeth are new and he's just 'playing' in his mouth but, really, short of having the binky ALWAYS in his mouth, what can I do?

Earplugs?

Jenna,

Sorry..I'm sitting here giggling..I SOOO remember that phase..but it was just a phase and it only lasted a few weeks!

First, try to ignore it (hard I know!) but kids are smarter than we give them credit for..and if you react, he'll do it more!!

I think you are right, its because the teeth are new, and he's discovering the sound..imagine what that sounds like in his head!!

I don't have any advice to make it stop, it just will! You'll have to hang in there in the meantime!

Good luck!

Michelle

At least he'll outgrow it. For the next few weeks, I think we'll be listening to music. LOL.

But really. Wow. That's AWFUL.

I hated it as well and ds seems to have outgrown it. We have now moved onto different noises. His current favorite is a very high pitch screech at the top of his lungs.

My daughter does this, it drives me nuts! My hubby laughs at me.

To me it sounds like she is grinding them down it is loud.

She doesn't do it everyday or all day but she has been doing it for about 2-3 months.

Like running your fingernails down the chaulkbaord!

Regards,
Brandy

Thanks for this thread! My son just started doing this and it is driving me crazy. I know it is because those two new teeth on top is new but jeez he only has four teeth! I hope he doesn't continue this as he gets more teeth -- I may need padded walls.
