Question help? anyone else have to deal with impetigo???

I took our son to the Dr. and he was Dx with impetigo and will be on a antibiotic for 10 days it first was on his face and nose and now it is on his legs and he has been on the med. for 4 days now is it normal for it to spread while taking the medicaine and anyone else have advice????

I used to have impetigo when I was a child, and the only thing that would get rid of it was an ointment called Bactroban. It's prescription -- you might ask about it at least.

My daughter gets it all the time and she is 19! Especially on her face. For us it is relatively harmless, just ugly and painful at times. We had a neighbor who got it really bad and had to be hospitalized for it. With impetigo you actually have luck by removeing the scabs and keeping the area very clean. We use the bactroban also. Good luck.
