How to move on?
Originally Posted By Almost a mom again

She had placed him in foster care with us while she thought over her decision (made several months earlier) to make an adoption plan. The baby lived with us for 10 days and it was not posssible not to love and bond with him. We have children and we told them that we were taking care of the baby so they would not be too upset if it happenned that he could not be a part of our family. His birthmom contacted us the day after Christnas to let us know that she wanted him with her. She came to pick him up the next day and it was one of the most difficult moments in our lives. We know it was hard for her as well and that she struggled with her decision. We really like and respect this birthmom (I guess that's not the right term anymore)but are just heartbroken at the turn of events. My question is whether anyone here has had a similar experience and, if so, what did you do, if anything, to help yourself and your family move on? Did you continue to seek to adopt and were you successful? We are truly trying to focus on all that we have as a family versus what we lost but any advice from adoptive families or birthmoms who have had an experience like this would be welcome.
