We Have A Court Date!
 We received a court date for June 30th. We are asking for your thoughts and prayers! Seems as if most cases are not passing on their first attempt due to missing MOWA letters. We are praying for everything to be in order and for her birth mother to be available at court that day.Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

mowa?
Sorry to appear stupid, just starting, but what is a mowa letter? WE are having our homestudy redone, the first one was too long, so we are still waiting to get the dossier sent off, and hoping then we wont have too long of a wait for our referral. And what happens if you dont pass the first time? Does that mean that you are put on the end of the "list" to get in to court again? Sorry for all thequestions.

It's ok to ask questions!!!! MOWA stands for Ministry Of Womens Affairs, they are responsible for reviewing each adoption file and providing an approval letter. The letter goes into your court file and is reviewed by the Judge. When your case is heard that letter has to be in the file or you fail. If you fail then you get rescheduled usually takes 3 weeks or so (if your lucky).

Congratulations, that is soooo awesome! How old is your child? What agency are you with? Yours has really been a quick adoption. They should all be like that! Our baby was abandoned and is held up in the court suspension. We are going to visit her again next month. Good luck!

The reason our adoption hasn't taken long is because we accepted the referral of a waiting child who is between 10-11 years old. She's been waiting for two years to find a family.
Infant adoptions take much longer because there's a waiting list. Families are waiting a long time to be matched with infant girls. We are just hoping to pass court before closures.

Here's hoping you pass court on the first go around! We passed on May 15th on the first try. Many from our agency passed on the first try in May.
