How about a new Roll Call
I'm Kerri, single mom to Ruby (from Guatemala) and Medina (from Ethiopia). Medina came home in July at age 7 and has been doing great. Her transition to being here was much easier than Ruby's transition to having her here. We're getting really excited about Christmas (she had never heard of it before).
I had a great Ethiopian experience. Feel free to pm me for details and agency info.

Hi everyone,
We are in Wisconsin, and are just in the beginning stages (mailed our application last week). Next week we have our first visit with a social worker to start our home study. We have adopted previously, a boy from Brazil in 1998 and a girl from Korea in 1999. Now that they are 9 & 10 yrs old, we would like to add 2 more children to the family. So we are beginning our adoption journey again, and we are looking to Ethiopia to find a boy & girl between 5 & 8. The last 4 years, we did foster care through our county, and that sure can be rough. We're ready to find a couple children that can really be "ours." This sure is exciting! PS Kerri, your blogspot is awesome, what beautiful girls you have! Thanks for sharing. :-) Julie Last edited by City_girl : 12-20-2008 at 07:26 PM. |

Wow, I'm not sure if I ever actually joined in on a Roll Call, and I've been on these forums since even deciding on Ethiopia.
Hi, I'm Megan, wife Nik and mom of Paxton, hoping to be mom of more sometime soon. We've had Pax home for about 13 months now and are now homestudy approved for domestic infant adoption, hope to get our names out there maybe next month. We heavily considered adopting from Ethiopia again but we'd want to go through the same agency if we did, and their wait times are insane now! Well, maybe not compared to some other countries... That and we feel we want a little baby this time around, something we absolutely did not want the first time around. Good luck on your adoption journey, Julie! There's a huge need for people willing to adopt older children and siblings so it should be a quick ride (hopefully!).

I am Samantha, single mom to Biset. She is now 4 years old and has been home over 2 years. She came home in September 2006 at 21 months. I am still hoping for a second adoption of an older child but not ready to start and hoping that Ethiopia does close to singles before I am ready to start.

I am April, mommy to Peanut (adopted 2007 from China at age 3), Little Bit (home from Ethiopia) since August age 2 1/2) and Buttercup (home from Ethiopia since August age 2). I think that we are done for a while, but maybe some time in the future one more little girl will join our family. My husband traveled to Ethiopia alone to bring home the two little ones.

I'm Jen and we are just starting the process. We just submitted our preliminary application with our agency. We should know within about 2 weeks if we qualify for the program. We have 5 bio kids, and want more but are unable due to pregnancy issues I have. Now that we have been researching adoption for the past 2 years, I want to do it so badly, that I would chose it even if we did not have pregnancy issues! We are hoping to adopt a little boy between 6-24 mos.

I'm Leslie and we are in the homestudy phase of our process. We have our first meeting with our Home Study provider tomorrow and then our Home study visit at the end of January. We are planning to adopt another little boy infant to 18 months.
We have a son Benjamin who we adopted from Guatemala. He came home May '06 when he was 6 months old and is now 3. Glad to "meet" everyone!

Yay, Carla! Glad you're here. You've already been to the best place for agency research - the Et AAR group.

Hi, we are in the midst of our fourth adoption from Ethiopia. We have six children, DS, 6, bio; DS, 5 1/2, ET 2006; DD, 4 1/2, bio; DD, 4, ET 2008; DS, 3 1/2, ET 2005; DS, 3, bio. We are hoping to get our dossier in this week, if we get one last piece of paper. We have used 2 agencies and have adopted an infant, toddler, preschooler, HIV + and are in the process of adopting a school-aged kid. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Hi,
My husband and I have just started the home study, doing all the paperwork right now. We're looking to adopt twins or a sibling set from Ethiopia. We have no children as of yet but are really excited to be going down this path as it's always been my dream to adopt. |
