We have just sent in our dossier and know that we will not get a referral for 18 months from now.
I am 5 months pregnant. I have not told our agency because we have no idea what the rules and regulations are, and because we want to make sure this baby is ok. We absolutely want our Ethiopian adoption to go through. This was an absolute crazy fluke that I got pregnant and am staying pregnant. We were told that this would never, ever happen, even if we used science, which we didn't. If anyone knows anything, please please please share! |

The rules about adopting while pregnant are completely agency specific. I know some agencies that say if you become pregnant you must put your adoption on hold until the child reaches the age of 12 months. And I know some that let you do both at the same time. I know a woman who jut picked up her 6 month old son from Ethiopia and took her 3 month old son with her. You need to find out your agency policy and in order to not jeopradize you adoption I would also encourage you to be honest with your agency.

First of all, congratulations! I hope everything goes well with your pregnancy.
I have to agree with the other poster. You need to find out what is in the agreement you signed with your agency regarding pregnancy. For example, the agency agreement when signed when we adopted our dd specifically stated that if we became pregnant during our adoption, they would place our adoption on hold until the baby was born and our adoption would end at that point. They didn't want to place children out of birth order and also wanted at least 1 year age difference between children in the home. However, the agency we're using for our Ethiopia adoption doesn't have this in the agreement at all. The policies between the 2 agencies are just very different. I hope your agency is willing to work with you.
