Adopting more than one child at a time

Hello,

I posted this question under another title and only received one response (thank you!), so I thought I'd try titling it differently.

Does Ethiopia allow you to adopt 2 unrelated children at the same time, or 1 year apart? We would like to adopt 2 children, but have them come home 1 year apart, but have heard somewhere that you must wait 4 years or something.

Anyone that can provide insight? I appreciate your help. Thank You.

Renee

Yes, Ethiopia does allow that. That said, not all agencies who are licensed to do adoptions from Ethiopia to the U.S. will allow it, so you need to find one of the agencies which does if this is what you would like to do.

Feel free to PM me for the name of one agency which does allow this. When I was adopting (only 1!), there were many people in process of adopting up to 3 unrelated children at once..

My husband and I adopted 2 unrelated children at the same time (ages 7 months and 15 months at the time we picked them up). We had a wonderful experience and would be more then happy to talk about our experience.

What kind of costs did you have with this? Did your one agency handle both adoptions? Was it just like doing 2 separate adoptions or did some of the cost dovetail? We are just starting down this road and we told our social worker we wanted to be open to the option of a sibling pair, but then were curious about costs involved.

We adopted both of our children at the same time and the agency fees for the second unrelated child were $4000.00. We had to pay double I600-A fees and the two visa fees but other than that none of our fees were doubled. Our agency also only required us to do one dossier for both of the children because they did not know until our referral whether our children would be related or not.
