I'm visiting from the Guatemalan group. DH and I have just completed our dossier and homestudy to adopt a child from Guatemala. However, there's a lot of political issues starting up, and we are looking for alternates. I am under the belief that there are an increasing amount of Ethiopian adoptions, so I'd love to know more information. Here are some of my specific questions:
- How long is the process (on average). How old are the children when they are finally yours?
- Has Ethiopia adopted the Hague convention rules? That is the nightmare that is affecting our Guatemalan adoption prospects. Will there be any effect when the US adopts the Hague in 2007?
- What is all involved in the Ethiopian dossier? We just completed our Guatemalan dossier, so I'm hoping that, if we switched countries, we could use a lot of these letters of recommendation, police clearances, etc.
- How about cost? Although, it can't be more expensive than a Guatemalan adoption!
If you have any links that I can look up some of this information, that would be fantastic. I really appreciate you reading this and helping us out.
Thank you,
Kris
