Does anyone have any experience with giardia and day care? I know a lot of children, unfortunately, come home from Ethiopia with this, and it often can linger for months.

Since it's contagious, I'm wondering if you can use day care while your child has symptoms.

Hello

Our kids had this when they came home.... they showed no signs of the disease. IT showed up in a routine bowel test. The doctor gave us medicine and told us that we should be very very cautious and make sure everyone was washing their hands. Public Health called and asked if they had diarrhea??? If so then they couldn't have any contact with other kids and make to sure that we were all washing our hands. Our kids didn't have diarrhea so they continued going to preschool and their sport activities.

The disease was cleared up in 3 days.... the doctor asked us what kind of meds we wanted...... 10 day pills, 7 day pills, or 3 day pills or 3 day liquid.... we chose 3 day pills.
