I realize that the courts are closed for September in Ethiopia (or the government or some other major entity effecting adoptions). Our agency says the actual end of the closing is somewhat ambiguous. I don't want to miss any time at all getting my materials in so I am wondering if anyone knows anything more specific about when everything opens back up???

I'm not sure when they open, but if you don't want to miss any time, you can do the dossier right now and have it sent to Ethiopia. It needs to be translated before going to the court anyway, so the sooner you get it over there, the sooner it will be translated, and the further "up" the list it will be to go to court when the court opens. This is assuming you're adopting a waiting child.

If you're requesting an infant/other non-waiting child, you'll need your dossier to be in Ethiopia and translated before you can be referred a child. So again, the further "up" that list (if there is one right now) you'll be the sooner your dossier goes to Ethiopia.

No, I didn't know this. Hmm... a little later than I had hoped but my dossier won't make it to CHSFS until Monday anyway, so I guess it could feasibly be there waiting when the courts open!
We are going to accept our referral next week. Two lovely little girls - 3yrs and 15mos.

Probably by the time your dossier gets there and gets translated, the courts will be open. Congrats on your 2 little ones--I hope they are home soon!!
