Any stories of successful adoption from Lithuania?
We are just starting our adoption research after three exhausting years of infertility. My great grandfather emigrated from Lithuania so it would be very moving to adopt from that country. I have found two agencies, Illien and St. Mary's and requested information from both. We would like to adopt a 6-12 month old, either boy or girl. Would greatly appreciate any contacts, advice or help you can provide.
Good luck to everyone on your journey. |

We are working on adopting from Lithuania via Adoptions from the Heart. We've been told that children under about two years old are not available for adoption from Lithuania. Best wishes in your journey...our paperwork is finally in country and we're waiting now.

Lithuania adoption
Hello,
We are adopting from Lithuania right now and are deep into it. We think we have atleast six more months until we get our proposals (yes, we are adopting two!). I would love to chat with you or anyone adopting from here. Please give me your email and I'd be so happy to write you back. I sent in for a request to the moderator to find your email. Hope to hear from you soon! Jbug |

Hi everyone!
We are also in the process of adopting (hopefully) siblings from Lithuania. We also feel a stong connection to Lithuania as my husband is 50% Lithuanian. My MIL 's parents came to the US just months before she was born. FYI, Lithuania gives priority processing to families who can prove heritage. I love the agency we are using feel free to e-mail me and I'll give you the info. Good luck! Barbara |

Adoptions from Lithuania are occurring, though slowly. A panel of parents who have successfully completed adoptions in Lithuania as well as parents who are in process, have formed a new Yahoo group for general information on adopting from Lithuania:
