I have heard VERY good things about Carolina Adoptions.

I adopted from the Republic of Georgia in August 2002 and had a PERFECT experience with an independent agency. ....but, if I did it again....I would probably go with CAS.

Here is my little Georgian!

I used Carolina Adoption Services to adopt a 3 year old girl from Georgia. I think they are the only agency that can get children out of Georgia. They also have a very large birth mother program where the children come from foster homes and not institutions.

I would highly recommend them.

Brentfinley,

I have heard some good things about Carolina. I personally went though a smaller organization. When we were over there picking up my little girl, I met a few Carolina people. Nice people.

I think Carolina is a large organization, which gives you some benefits and some drawbacks. The support structure is much more developed, so if one person in the office gets a cold, you have someone else answering the phone.

With a smaller organization, I felt I had more personal contact with the head of the company and could voice my concerns. They were also more flexible with the way we wanted to do things, rather than a set way everyone does it.

BTW, Carolina is DEFINATELY NOT the only organization that can adopt from Georgia. If you check the Ministry of Education web site for Georgia (I think it is the Ministry of Education. It may also be the Georgia State Department. Anyway...), they have a list of all the organizations to whom they release children. Organizations not on that list may contract through organizations on that list to help place adoptions.

Hope this helps. Only my $0.02.

Dave

When I said children I meant non infants. To my knowledge Carolina Adoption Services is the only agency that is working with orphanages. Would love to hear different as those children need homes just as much as the infants coming from the birth mothers. Unfortunately it is harder to do and it is only Carolina that has put in many years of effort to develop relationships with the orphanages.

I used CAS to bring home an infant boy in December. He is a doll. CAS was excellent, the trip was smooth and the Georgian facilitators were also excellent.

time frame for Rep. of Georgia with Carolina Adoptions

We would like to hear from those who have adopted infants through the Carolina Adoption's birthmother program. How long did the whole process take you from start to finish? What was the waiting time for a referral once your dossier was accepted? We are considering using them to adopt our second Georgian child. Any information you could share about your adoption experience would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

You should try posting your message on the following yahoo group.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/repgeorgiaadopt/

Great place for information. We adopted a toddler but I believe the wait for an infant is around 6 months. Depending on sex and just how often referrals come in. It used to be much quicker then this but it looks like the wait is just gradually getting longer due to the increasing popularity of the program.

That would be the wait once your dossier is sent to Georgia.
