My wife & I are pursuing adoption in Belarus and are interested in hearing any experiences from using Small World Adoption Foundation as their agency. We have received their information booklet and everything looks real good but would like to hear from some other sources. Any information or experiences with SWAF or with a Belarus adoption would be greatly appreciated.

We have not made the final selection yet on the agency. There are only 5 or 6 acredited agencies for adoption in Belarus, so the choices are limited. One of the reasons we like SWAF is because they are run by 2 doctors that are both Russian immigrants and are personally involved with the orphan homes within Belarus. They make trips to Belarus & also assist with the screening process of the children to ensure their health. The thing that drew us to Belarus is the relatively short period to process the adoption, 1 trip in country for the adoption & the length of stay for the trip is relatively short.
International Assistance Group is an agency out of Pittsburgh that also handles Belarus adoptions. My home study person has good things to say about them.
Comes down to who you feel comfortable with ??

We found Small World prohibitively expensive, and are working with Gods Families International Adoption Services our of California. We are hoping ot travel Feb or March to get our two girls.

Dawna, I searched for any info on Gods Families International Adoption Services and cannot find any info. Can you give me a web site address or any additional information. I would like to check it out if possible. Did you adopt from Belarus or Russia ?

The Small World Adoption Foundation is good agency and its run by two Russian doctors. The price includes all expenses in country (hotel, meal...)

Small World is a great agency. We are very pleased with how they walked us through the entire process. Any time we have had questions, as small as they were, someone was always there to answer. We attended their summer picnic and breakfast with Santa and met lots of people that are very happy with SWAF. No one had a bad thing to say. The children were all very beautiful.
Good luck with whatever agency you choose, but keep in mind, SWAF, in my opion, is the best!
