Question Has anyone ever hosted a child for summer camp?

I just found out about a winter camp being held in our area and we are considering hosting a boy age 5-9. Just wondering if anyone else has done this before and could give any advice.

Thanks,
LRA

Thumbs up

We hosted 3 children in summer of 2003 and are adopting 2 of them. Wonderful experience if you ever get the chance to do it. Best of luck to you.

Sincerely,
The Boyd Bunch of NC

I wish they would come out to the Chicago area! I've read something like this before, but you can only do it if you are living in the area. I think it was somewhere east coast. ughhh. I think it's a great idea, they should do this more often. Especially with the older kids. Gets them more mind set for America early on. Plus, it is harder for them to be adopted. If they can be at someone's home for a summer or whatever, those people will just fall in love with them!

We just hosted a 6 year old boy and we're in the process of adopting him. It was a great experience. Since we're interested in an older child and have a 5 year old biological child, it was important to us to see how they did with one another. Things couldn't have gone better!

Good Luck to you!
Kim

I never heard of winter camps. That's awesome. We are in MA. Has anyone heard of such a thing here?

I am in the Atlanta area and the agency I'm using is affiliated with a hosting program that will have children here over the Christmas holidays in addition to their summer program.

I have heard of a couple agencies that are doing this in the Chicago area, and my husband and I are considering hosting a child. If anyone can share any past experiences, I would appreciate it!
