Hi, dunno if anyone will ever be in this Durham NC section, but wanted to share our experiences if so. We are in the process of becoming licensed foster parents in order to adopt our step niece who is an infant. Who knew we had to jump through so many hoops!!! Anyway, we have one more MAPP class left, had our home visit today and still have the fire inspection, fingerprints, and all their paperwork. So, I think we are nearing the end! We may be able to start "babysitting" her as soon as the home visit paperwork is approved! She is with her G-ma (my MIL) now. We are so excited!!! We also have actually enjoyed the classes and met some great folks.

Doesn't look like there's much traffic here, but I thought I'd try to join the conversation. My family (self, wife and son, age 4) are here in Durham, NC and hoping to adopt in a domestic semi or open adoption. Things we enjoy a) The Durham Bulls, we'll catch 20 games a season; b) the Museum of Life and Science, my wife and son are there once a week; and c) The Ole NC Barbecue on Roxboro Street. My son is addicted to the hush puppies! We would love to communicate with other perspective adoptive parents to share our experiences and support one another.
