At it again!!!

In 2004 we adopted our little girl from Guatemala. I used this site as a huge resource and I am back again. My husband and I have always wanted to adventure into adoptions again, espicially now since our little one is 5. She has been asking for a brother or sister and has gone as far as asking Santa last Christmas. We knew that Guatemala was closed and never thought about going through an adoption again because of the cost. Well, we got a phone call from a family friend that they know someone who has decided to put their unborn child up for adoption and would like us to adopt it. OMG, I am at a lost for words and the feelings are coming back of fear and excitement again. Where do I go from here? I know that the birthmother can change her mind and that is why we are trying to not to get our hopes up too much. What are the laws in Louisiana? If she decides, how long can she change her mind once she signs the termination of her rights? Would someone please help me?

Thanks

Great to see you back!

You might try cross posting this on the General Adoptive Parents forum, which gets a lot more traffic.

Good luck!

Congrats on your match! We adopted our son from Louisiana almost 3 years ago. A mom has to wait 5 days after the baby is born to sign, and once TPR is signed, it's irrevocable. Hope that helps.
