Independant adoption
Hello out there!
My husband and I would like to research independant adoption. We are in WA state. Does anyone have information on how this is done, specifically how do you look for a birth mother? Sarah ![]() |

Sarah,
We just dove in and picked an adoption lawyer locally and got a referral to the top adoption social worker in our town. We did our paperwork for each of them and our portfolio and homestudy. Then, we just started using our website and our marketing post cards to network in the healthcare and social work field here locally and across Kansas. Hope that helps... We completed a independant domestic adoption in WA state just a little less than a year ago. The first thing is to gather information. We started out by talking with another couple we knew that adopted two children, one through a agency and one independantly. Their experience led us to think that we would prefer to pursue independant adoption. We then contacted an adoption attorney whom met with us free of charge and really laid out the whole process and was able to answer many of our questions. Finding a good adoption attorney is really key to getting info and legal support. If you would like to PM me I would be glad to tell you about the attorney we used and how the process went for us.
