advice
We have finally been matched. We met the bmom and it was an amazing connection immediately. We will get to be there for the birth at the mom's request. We are currently living out of state so we will be staying with the inlaws until we get the okay to go home. My question is how to handle the inlaws - they want to throw a shower/party, but I am concerned because she will only be about 5 days old. what should we do?

Unfortunately that is something you will have to decide. If you do not want anything until TPR then you need to state that. If you are ok with something earlier than you need to state that. I would personally put it on the table now so that it isn't issue later and feelings getting hurt.
And congratulations on your match.

Totally up to you. If your in-laws live far away, and this would be the best chance for them to throw a shower, then it makes sense to do it while you're there. If you'd rather wait, for whatever reason, that's fine too.
