Thinking about adopting again

I have a 7 1/2 year old son I adopted when he was 21months old. He has been an only child and I am a single parent. I am looking at adopting again but I am unsure how I should proceed because I want my son to be accepting. I don't know if I should adopt a child younger or older than my son. I want my son notto be alienated by another child even though he wants another sibling very bad. Also would it be better to adopt another boy or a girl?
Thanksforyour help,
Wendy

It seems to be generally recommended to not adopt out of birth order. If I was in your situation, I'd adopt younger. As to gender, that's really your preference. What about just being open to that and seeing what happens?
