Does this exist in domestic adoption?

Is there a such thing as an agency that doesn't take money from you until TPR has been signed? We already have a current homestudy.

They're likely going to require a registration fee or application fee - but to answer your question, yes, there are domestic agencies that don't charge fees until after TPR.

Is your homestudy for your China adoption? If so - it may not work for domestic adoption - you'll need to ask the agencies when you contact them.

Actually my homestudy is good for both. I live in IL so we have a foster/to adopt license. We have actually been thru two domestic matches that didn't work out.
Thank you-
Do you know how I can go about finding what agencys they are?

I'm in IL too. I'll tell you the fastest way I found out about any agencies.
Got my pen, my paper, my phone nearby. Googled (as an example)..."IL adoption agencies". Found a website that listed hundreds of agencies...private and the state system type.
Copied the page, and sat down to start phoning them. I had questions for all, and asking 'what kind of fees do you require up front', was one of them.
I made notes, and after talking to them, made notes as to what I thought of their policies, their attitudes, and whether we'd want to work with them.

Hope this helps in some way...

Sincerely,

Linny

Thanks Linny- it does help. I was hoping for an easier way! LOL
The years I have spent on adoption are wearing me down! I'll probably do that sometime soon.
Anyone knows of any particular agencys that don't charge much up front, please pm me!

Thanks again Brandy, and Linny

I was actually going to suggest you PM Linny. I know she has a list of agencies that work with families in Illinois...but I totally forgot when I posted.

Good luck!

We worked with an agency in OH that charged a $200 application fee and nothing else until after TPR. I did hear they are not accepting any families right now unless they are open to AA / biracial. If you want the name, send me a PM and I will send you info!
