We just got our homestudy updated on Friday. Our son right now is 10 months old. We were planning on waiting until he was at least a year before we bring home another baby. However, before our cw left she asked if we had a profile left from when we were adopting our son. We said yes and she asked to take it with her. Unfortunately we didn't have a new one completed yet. She was supposed to be meeting with a potential birthmother that afternoon who had not been interested in any of the other profiles she had seen. Our cw worker wanted to present us because she felt we fit what she is looking for. Well, she didn't come Friday after all and rescheduled for Wed. to come into the agency. She is due in Sept. with a little boy. So, we are waiting to see if she is interested in our family or not. It was quite a shock, we didn't expect to be shown that fast at all. If it works out I will be so excited, shocked and a little nervous, but excited. That is where I am at. Timbo

Wow! Very cool, we are hoping that we will be matched sooner than later. I dont want the 2 younger ones to be so far apart. My others are about 3+ yrs apart. Lets see how it goes!

*waiving* Hi Aaron!
I thought I'd jump in here too...my whole story is pretty much in my signature--I'm a newbie at this whole process, but have jumped in with both feet very quickly! After a 3 year infertility struggle (I couldn't make an egg if my life depended on it ), my dh and I decided to start the adoption process. I had always thought about it, but the day he looked at me and said "I just want to be a dad" brought tears to my eyes! We contacted several agencies, and selected one to work with--and ended up having what I think is the world's fastest homestudy (3 weeks) and quickest match (1 day after homestudy was complete). We are feeling incredibly blessed right now, and have one eye on the calendar at all times ...we're going to meet our pbm this weekend (have talked on the phone before), and her due date is in Sept. I pray for her and the baby everyday...and for a smooth adoption for all of our sakes.

Aaron, I hope you get matched soon too. I think it will be nice to have kids so close together. I can see disadantages too but am excited about the good stuff. Sammy, that is so cool that you were matched so quick. Congratulations. I hope the wait goes by quickly. That is neat that you get to meet the birthfamily this weekend. I was so nervous at first but is dissipated very quickly once the ice was broke. Timbo

I remember our first match, it was SOOO nerve wracking to talk to the birthmother on the phone for the first time. It went smoothly but still kinda crazy. It didnt work out with that situation, but I think of her all the time.

portfolio still on Fedex truck...
HI
I sent in my portolio and money to an agency I selected after speaking iwth an adoption consultant for the agency and hearing about this young owman expecting twins and just felt she needed to see our portfolio. So hubby and I rush to get it inished and get teh letter just right (although we arent really entirely happy with it) and miss the fedex cutoff for drop offs so I go the next morning (yesterday) and put it in the box knowing it will get picked up that night and paid a bundle for it to be delivered around 10:30 the next day, today. WEll I misinterpreted their times they went by the agency before 9am. Clearly most businesses are not open by then so they put a thing on the door and said they would drop off tomorrow. Great. SO I hope they can get it today I left a message with my contact at the agency a few hours ago and I am bummed they dont have it she would have reviewed it and sent it on. THe young woman is in another state and pregnant with twin girls and she has already seen a bunch of books and is starting to talk to adoptive moms today. UGH its killing. I know its going to be a difficult journey full of ups and downs but Ive been researching agencies and adoption or years I finally attempt to get signed up my stuff is on a fedex truck Anyhow I am very glad to be here and to be close to waiting for a match... I havent figured out how to do my signature yet, but I have a 4 year old little boy from A frozen IVF cycle had he was born over 3 mths premature and I can't have anymore. I've always thought I would adopt so here I am ready and waiting for another miracle baby. ![]() |

Well, I guess we can be here too, now.
We are waiting to adopt an African-American or biracial baby through an agency in Texas. The couple who referred us to this agency had a VERY quick process (2 weeks from agency approval until birth of their daughter). Ours as you can see from our timeline has been a bit longer than that, and no match in sight yet. We keep hoping that it will be our turn soon. Maybe it will be someday. We haven't been waiting for a match long, but we had the world's longest homestudy process, I think -- more than 3 months! We are also pursuing adopting a 12-year-old girl from one state's foster care system. We got an addendum to our homestudy written in something like two days to be able to submit a request for more information about her. We previously weren't approved to adopt children as old as her. So far, we haven't been able to get any information on her other than the very basic profile and photo off the website, but we are hoping that she may be our daughter. I suppose we should call them (again!) and find out what they are doing.

Hey kati,
Glad to see you can make it over this way too! We are waiting as well. We are open to all races so we have NO idea what is in store for us this time around. Good luck with your foster adoption. Before we began all this we were chose to adopt 3 girls from texas (sisters) but in the end they were SO happy where they were (they were older 17,13,11) that we didnt want to uproot them. Especially the 2 older ones, with friends/church and all. So we decided to let them be. I know they would have had a great home with us, but I know they were happy where they were. Then we decided on Russia and got a sibling group of 2 young girls and about a week b4 we were to go out there they got adopted by a Russian family, so then we turned to domestic. Now this is the second time around Welcome.
