I believe they are a faciliator, the lady I spoke with was VERY nice!

So, has anyone used them? Heard anything bad? Good?

Thanks!

I asked the same question a while ago on another board. Here is a link to the responses--

I know someone that worked with them and were very unsatisified. I do agree that Cathy is a very nice person but if you read most of the replies about this facilitator, hardly anyone has adopted through her.

The person that was "matched" through her, found out that another couple was also "matched" with the same **. Not a nice way to do business. When asked what happened to that **, this facilitator's answer was, I have no idea, we lost contact with her. Very strange and also a nice way to get out of a sticky situation if you ask me.

I would much rather work with an adoption attorney or agency, some place that a person wouldn't be at risk of losing sooooo much money. Facilitators do not guarantee that you will be refunded. No one can guarantee the placement of a child but in my opinion, losing so much money, on top of the emotions involved in the adoption process, is too much to take.

Best of luck for you and your family!

We are in the process of deciding right now if we will work with her as well. I agreee I really liked her on the phone and she sounds very knowlegdeable and committed to adoption. My concern is I have done more research on facilitators in general and they seem to be not the best choice. My concern with Cathy and her comapny is - it seems to good to be true - according to what she says we should expect adoption to fall between 15,000-20,000 - to me that seems low - all of the agencies I have spoken with have quoted me between 20,000 - 32,000.

I did adopt though Cathy Mantell at Adoption Consultants. We were thrilled with our experience with Cathy and our adoption experience! Our adoption would had cost 15 thousand or less but because the birthfather decided at the last minute he didn't want to sign when he previously said he would, so it ended up costing a bit more.

If you are interested in learning more about Adoption Consultants, click on this link. http://www.adoptionplan.com/forum/in...consultan ts& There are 30+ absolutely glowing posts about this company. They really are simply fabulous! There is only 1 negative post by Diane11 who certainly appears to be KarenJJ above but posting under another name. Both live in PA, same complaints, same language ("lost contact"), same sign offs (best of luck...). But click on this link and you'll see KarenJJ earlier states in June 04 this facilitator did nothing wrong. http://forums.adoption.com/t154030,40,1.html
